The Diversity and Inclusion Committee is thrilled to launch the DBT-LBC™ Mentorship Program. This program was designed to provide support and encouragement to individuals seeking DBT-LBC™, Clinician Certification.
By design, DBT- LBC™ does not offer clinical consultation; therefore, the mentorship program is not designed to function in a clinical capacity, to include DBT Adherence Coding, or anything related to the clinical case presented for video coding. Anything that would fall within a clinical supervision role is outside of the program’s scope.
Purpose: Contribute to the DBT community by fostering a supportive and collaborative community and increasing accessibility and representation within DBT-LBC Certified Clinicians.
Goals: The Mentorship Program is designed to help address some of the non-clinical/non-case specific barriers that have been identified when considering DBT-LBC™ certification and to support a clinician’s personal and professional growth.
Scope of the Mentoring Relationship: The mentoring relationship can include support in the following areas:
- Session recording anxiety
- General test preparation
- Helping the mentee consider ways to talk to their client about being recorded
- Structuring and accountability
- Overall cheerleading through the process
- Other non-clinical support agreed upon between the mentor and mentee
Matching Process: Thoughtful pairing of mentors and mentees is based on factors such as gender, identity, race and ethnicity, areas of expressed interest, populations served and geographic locations (time zones).
Structured Meetings: There will be no identified requirements set by DBT-LBC™ regarding scheduled meetings. However, we recommend starting with at least a monthly meeting to start and further assess what will work best with the mentor/mentee relationship. All meetings will be set and agreed upon by both mentor and mentee and will not be tracked or monitored by DBT-LBC™.
Goal Setting: Specific goals will be discussed by the mentor and mentee and agreed upon by both parties.
Resource Sharing: Mentors will share their knowledge and experience with the certification process to help mentees navigate areas of the process that have been deemed challenging.
This program is voluntary with no money exchanged. Anything provided outside the scope of what has been defined is not affiliated with DBT-LBC™.
