Join us for a conversation with Stephanie Harrison, author of “The New Happy” and Andrea Gold, Ph.D., DBT Psychologist, as we share, discuss and link concepts and skills conveyed in Stephanie’s work to tools from DBT for the DBT provider. Specifically, this webinar will feature Stephanie’s art illustrating science-backed skills that are relevant to the DBT consultation: DBT therapy for the DBT therapists. Together, we will discuss the art and science of skills geared towards advanced DBT supervision/consultation team topics, such as the dialectic of nurturing versus benevolent demanding, centering problem assessment before solution assessment, and more!
Learning Objectives | By the conclusion of this event, participants will be able to:
- Identify and describe examples of the 4 types of barriers to clinicians’ effective behaviors and ow they can be discussed in DBT Consultation teams
- Identify and describe at least 2 DBT skills or strategies that can be offered as consult/coaching when responding barriers to clinicians’ effective behaviors in DBT Consultation teams
- Identify one of the DBT therapist characteristic dialectics and how it may be identified and described in DBT Consultation teams
Presenter | Stephanie Harrison (she/her) Stephanie is an expert in the science of happiness and the creator of the New Happy philosophy. She has a master’s degree in positive psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, where she was later an instructor, and was previously the Director of Learning at Thrive Global, leading the development of science-based programs that improve well-being. Her company, The New Happy, has revolutionized the way that people understand and pursue happiness. Their artwork, newsletter, videos, podcast, and resources reach millions of people around the world every month. She is a Harvard Business Review and CNBC contributor, and her expertise has been featured in publications such as Fast Company, Forbes, and Architectural Digest. She is a regular speaker at Fortune 500 companies and advises on employee well-being and company culture. Her first book, “The New Happy”, was released by Penguin Random House in May 2024.
Presenter | Andrea Gold, Ph.D. (she/her) is a DBT Psychologist and Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Dr. Gold is the Team Leader for the DBT-X Track within the Intensive Program for OCD and Anxiety Related Disorders at the Pediatric Anxiety Research Center (PARC). She is also on the Board of Directors for the National Education Alliance for BPD (NEABPD) and the DBT Bulletin, and she is passionate about reducing stigma through education and awareness of BPD and emotional dysregulation, while promoting DBT skills and living the exposure lifestyle.
